The competition is open to special press reports and enquiries for the television about civil and social commitments (solidarity, non-violence, justice, human rights).
There will be different sections A, B, C, D, E as follows:
- Press reports broadcast on TV news and special features (max. duration 4’) - 1500 Euro;
- Press reports broadcast on other TV programs different from TV news (duration between 4’ and 12’) - 1500 Euro;
- Press reports and enquiries broadcast on other TV programs different from TV news (min. duration 12’) - 1500Euro;
- Press reports broadcast on local and regional televisions - 1500 Euro;
- Miran Hrovatin Prize for cameramen - 1500 Euro.
As for the sections A, B, C, D for journalists of Italian broadcasters, the reports will be judged for their journalistic value. The lack of sophisticated equipment will not be a selective factor. As for the section E for cameramen, the reports will be judged for the proposed images.
Youth Prize for all those shots made by journalists under 32 years old. No subscription is necessary because the journalists 32 and under years old taking part to the competition automatically participate to Youth Prize.
Europe Prize for European journalists. The European TV press offices or the journalists themselves can send to the Prize Organization up to three TV reportages about social subjects. The film must be in their original language with English subtitles, and their duration must be minimum 12’. Europe Prize’s amount is 2000 Euro.
Production Prize for Italian reports lasting more than 12’ and never broadcast from national broadcasters. (The jury of the Prize will be composed by Italo Moretti, Ilaria Alpi Prize’s Jury President, by the Rai Tre Director Paolo Ruffini, by Rai News 24 Director Roberto Morrione, by the President of the Emilia Romagna Journalist Association Gerardo Bombonato and Paolo Serventi Longhi, General Secretary of the Italian Press Federation). The Production Prize amount is 10.000 Euro and it will broadcast by RAI NEWS 24 and Rai Tre.
Critics Prize. A group of television critics will freely bring five special surveys each to the jury’s attention. These reports can be also made by journalists not participating to the competition, but the winner will be excluded from the competition in other sections. The report that will receive the highest number of recommendations will get the Critics Prize of 1500 Euro.

All the reports taking part to the competition must be made after January 2004, and must have been already broadcast except for the Production Prize.
All the reports must be sent on Betacam support, or DV Cam, or Mini Dv and a DVD copy must be enclosed. The works in competition must present a completely filled in and signed entry form, the curriculum vitae and a short synopsis of the film. All the stuff is to be sent to:

Only the shots arrived by April 23rd 2005 at midday will be accepted. No subscription fee is needed. The works in competition must present a brief biography of the author, their report’s section, a short summary of the content and the form downloadable from the website: www.ilariaalpi.it.
Each competitor can present no more than three shots, recorded on different tapes. It is also possible to send more works not competing, that could be projected during the event. The works given by the editorial offices will be accepted as well.
Prizes will be awarded according to the unquestionable judgement of the jury, that will be presided by Italo Moretti and composed by:

The Ilaria Alpi Award is authorized to:
- Reproduce and broadcast pictures and frames taken from reports presented at the Award in pubblishing and advertising of the Award.
- Produce and broadcast a prom CD Rom/Dvd including a shot of 3’ maximum length (of each report) presented at the Award.
- To use the press reports presented at the Award for a 3’maximum length each one, within a tv programme produced and edited by the Award itself and broadcast by local and national tv nets with informative and promotional aim.
- To screen the reports during the days of the Award.
- To use on the web site ,as a prom, a 30’’maximum length of each report presented at the Award.
- The reached works will not be given back and will be collected in the archive of the Ilaria Alpi Observatory with conservative, educational, and popular aim (reference and loan).
The Journalistic Television Prize Ilaria Alpi will take place in Riccione on June 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 2005.
